Your opinion about Animal Agriculture Myths and Facts
Check this out- we do not have anything interesting today.
Magnus Leuthner- Leni would be so proud of this piece of propaganda nonsense... I understand farmers are worried but they will be just fine growing veggies instead of these poor creatures. Boycott meat and dairy for the animals and your own health.
coloursofbyron- Tell us the facts: animals are confined, tormented by castration and dehorning and branding and beak clipping and then slaughtered, often while still conscious, all with absolutely no necessity. If we can live healthy, happy lives without killing other sentient beings, why wouldn't we?
Sanjeev Rana- The biggest fucking cover up story! They've made it obvious, its all about the money and profits they are trying to protect. As far as these motherfuckers are concerned, the animals can go to HELL! Making out it's a wonderful place for the animals! Man if any of you have watched the video called COW SPIRICY BY A.U.M PRODUCTIONS they blow the fucking lid clean off these fucking goons! Their defending their positions, because they know nothing else in this world.
beaelliott- Is it true that in order to keep these animals healthy enough to go to slaughter that animal agriculture uses over 70% of all the antibiotics made in the U.S.? Aren't there more people dying from MRSA than from aids now... Because no antibiotics are effective any more?
ProAg21- 2) don't people trap, poison, hunt, and kill rodents, birds, coyotes, etc to keep them out of their homes, gardens, and buildings? Again, large scale farms obey strict protocol written out by not just law, but industry standards. Programs such as PQA, TQA, and BQA are to the point of being required by the packers and processors before they will take animals. These Quality Assurance programs include site assessments and education to insure the safety and welfare of animals, workers, and community.
Janna Moats- I have full respect for the makers of this film. There is a tremendous disconnect from the urbane community and the producers of food. As such, we are scutinized on a daily basis due to the lack of education- people need to learn where there food comes from. Unfortunately many of the films and videos that depict producers as evil beings have been staged. What's worse is that the law suites that follow get little attention so the general public still takes these videos as truth.
beaelliott- Just curious... I saw several times that in these housing systems countless thousands of pigs and chickens have died when the power went out... Or even when they were abandoned. How do factory farms prevent that kind of severe suffering from suffocation, fires or neglect?
beaelliott- Are there many wild animals killed to "protect" cattle? Like wolves, coyotes, prairie dogs, horses and big cats? Are there wild birds that are poisoned by the millions to "protect" the grain at the feedlots? Do tax payers fund grazing rights to ranchers? Where does the water come from to provide drinking water for the cows? Is it true that these feedlots can reach 115 degrees in the summer and hundreds/thousands die of exposure? Especially the black ones?
Alexis Stinton- I could go into the effects of cortisol levels on health and well-being or bruising from rushing an animal past a gate or panel, however, I feel that it would be wasting time. We don't abuse our animals.
bradford71us- youre a liar. yes, antibiotics for animals are OPENLY AVAILIABLE in ANY feed store for ANY USE. there are no "protocol" as you falsely claim. the animal industry uses far more antibiotics than humans. your comment is a blantant lie in every word. people like you are pure scum.
Janna Moats- I mean no disrespect to your comment and understand that you are very passionate about this subject. However, Food Inc is a film made strategically for entertainment purposes and to " stir the pot" if you will. It is not factual and is glamourized false information. I strongly encourage you to talk to producers themselves, visit facilities, and properly educate yourself on the topic.
ProAg21- to answer some more questions.. 1) no, antibiotics are not used without regard to resistance. animal agriculture, especially those in "confined" situations are able to control the amount of antibiotics given and follow strict protocol. There is a bigger problem of doctors over prescribing antibiotics to people and people abusing the prescriptions than that of the livestock industry.
bradford71us- its called "factory farming"...CAFOS. thats reduced profit.
bradford71us- pigs were meant to wallow in mud, not live in confined cages and become insane and eat their own tails. WE WANT MUD, so you people who call yourselves "farmers" are liars...you work in a factory. no one wants your factory food. arent you getting it?? thats why your trash food isnt worth much money except to mcdonalds. keep your mcdonalds and eat there. no one else wants your garbage.
beaelliott- The assumption that animals are without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality. ~Schopenhauer
curiouser49- NO FARMING PRACTICE FOR ANIMALS IS HUMANE!!! THIS IS A PROPAGANDA FILM. DO YOUR RESEARCH. IS SLAUGHTERING HUMANE? IS PUSHING AROUND DOWNED ANIMALS WITH HEAVY EQUIPMENT TO GET THEM INTO THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE HUMANE? ARE MONSANTO FEED LOTS HUMANE? ARE PIG SLAUGHTERHOUSES WITH MANIACS SLAUGHTERING THEM HUMANE? DO YOU THINK IN THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE THEY TALK NICE TO THE PIGS? WATCH FOOD, INC. EARTHLINGS, THE CORPORATION (That's the truth)
Janet Weeks- Big Ag's latest attempt to hoodwink average Americans with its Half-Truths About Animal Agriculture.
bradford71us- i AM a producer and food inc is not a lie at all. people like you work for factories amnd promote this kind of propaganda. yeah.....go visit some CAFOS and see for yourselves, except people like you actually RESTRICT visitors for "biosecurity reasons". youre scum mr factory worker.
GOJIRA1228- Wow. Just wow. You sir are the most ignorant son of a bitch I've ever met.
ProAg21- 3) There is no perfect system. We will always be looking for better ways. There is always room for improvement. If you look at the number of farms using modern systems versus the number who have failures, the percentage is small. Looking at the big picture is paramount. While there is no excuse for animal deaths, we are human and make mistakes. But we learn from these mistakes, and that is the key difference. There are far more successful operations today than there ever has been.
