Your opinion about Brazil: A Hungry Planet and Brazilian Agriculture
Check this out- we do not have anything interesting today.
Jan Vrána- What software is used to make this?Thank you.
Anaëlle Lemesle- trop bien!
laurens678- @Imota71 Brazil did deforest the Mata Atlântica, or the Atlantic Rainforest. Almost of it all has disapeared. The reason Brazil didn't deforest the Amazon in the past, was because there didn't exist pesticides and fertilizers. The soil is extremely poor. But now Brazil in 40 years has deforested more of the Amazon and the Cerrado, than Europe has in the past 450 years. Brazil could earn from the Amazon by rubber, brazil nuts, and ecotourism.
Rubenzian2- /watch?v=JgoSfr1hu7I Another farm in brazil, with music
OxfordMediaSolutions- @AggaAgga no problem :) Prezi is good but this is way too complex!
Vu Hoang- which software did you use to make this video? :) Thank u!
Antonio Lima- The attempt to stop deforestation remainds me of the attempt to stop drug dealing. That is, it's no use to fight the problem of drugs trying to eliminate the drug dealers; they have to eliminate the drug users. It's no use to try to stop the deforestation problem by trying to eliminate plantation; it is necessary to stop the demand for food. Birth control, worldwide, now.
laurens678- @Imota71 And about the hydroelectricity, it is very polluting. In the first years, because of rotting vegetation, it pollutes more than a coal fired power station. It is very controversial, and has been stopped several times by court, and has been widely critized. I have no propaganda, it is simply the truth.
laurens678- @Imota71 Also, western countries are starting to pay for leaving rainforest standing instead of deforesting and logging. This could be a big chance for Brazil to preserve its unique rainforest, while getting paid for its efforts. Also the rainforest, is very important in generating rainfall for important agricultural regions in south Brazil, another reason to preserve the Amazon.
Red Baron Farm- Brazil better be careful. This same seductive type of presentation was given to India years ago. Now India has a huge problem, with massive farmer bankruptcies, destroyed land, and even farmer suicides, because they get trapped with no way out. The organic movement with new modern scientific sustainable techniques like SRI, HMPG, and permaculture is a far better option.
laurens678- Brazil has enormous potential for expansion of wind energy. Here in europe we try to expand wind energy in the North Sea. It is just that hydro electricity is much cheaper than wind and solar energy. It is all about the money. In some people's eyes, money is all that matters...
JESUSISTHEONLYESCAPE- THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH BASF!!!!!!!
AggaAgga- @dzviovich67 It's called Prezi. And if you're a student you have a fantastic nearly all-included free license.
laurens678- @Imota71 And just say where you found that article about the modified roses in Holland, please
laurens678- @Imota71 I thought genetic crops were forbidden to grow in the EU. We have very strict measures for genetic mutated crops here, and the roses are not genetically mutated here. In the USA, Argentina, and Brazil genetic mutated crops like soy are widespread, though.
Diego Zviovich- Any ideas on which software was used to create this animation?
AggaAgga- @OxfordMediaSolutions Thanks for the hint, I'll check Adobe After Effects right away
mercoorhyo- Congratulations BRAZIL!!!
Jay Harris- @1:34 - typo: "...1 of of every 3 jobs"
laurens678- Some of the consequences of the Brazilian agricultural miracle: Deforestation, increasing number of murders of activists and indigenous people, slavery, land disputes, just to name a few.
Eduardo Ruiz- Way to go Basf. A respected foreign multinational confirming what we have been preaching for a long time.
laurens678- but well, discussing this goes nowhere, our views are too different..
Renato Itokazu- Agora precisamos de soluções contra os malefícios causados pelos agrotóxicos!
laurens678- @Imota71 Yes, and I applaud Brazil for that, good job :) hope they get zero deforestation for Amazonia so that I can visit it someday :) and I hope that Dilma Roussef wil veto against the change in the forest code proposed by some ruralists.
laurens678- @Imota71 Brazil has deforested an staggering amount. 730.000 km2 of the Amazon and 1.000.000 of the Cerrado. This is the same as 42 times my country. In 40 years. Brazil got 1 billion dollar to finance projects to prevent deforestation(because of deforestation, Brazil is one of the biggest polluters), but Brazil has done very little with that money up to now. In Brazil, the white farmers have very much influence in politics, and also try to change the forest code.
laurens678- Again, your country's population density is relatively low. Land area is very big. It's not insane.
laurens678- @Imota71 And I live in the province Flevoland, there grow a lot of roses and tulips here, and there is no genetically modified crops here at all. It is widely known that Brazil and Argentina(USA too)has millions of acres of genetically modified of soy, which are sprayed with roundup(a pesticide). In Europe, people don't want these crops here.
laurens678- Well Brazil is all focussed on quantity, on getting bigger and bigger no matter what. If there is some forest or people in the way they have to get away, well the soy and beef giants are very powerfull. Look at Blairo Maggi, governor of Mato grosso, and at the same time biggest soy producer. Luckily there is a deforestation moratorium for soy,but beef is still a big deforester. Sorry to say,but I myself would never eat Brazilian beef after what I have seen..
Eduardo Neto- in fact we have to be careful...
laurens678- You aren't responding to me anymore, it seems you were lying about that
phillips78- What isn't mentioned here is that Brazilian fossil fuel use went up 3.2 times since the 1960's and water use has gone up too. Fossil fuel based fertilisers are one of the primary reasons for increased productivity, as fossil fuels become more expensive watch the food prices rise. Also, in terms of productivity we have already picked the low hanging fruit. It is getting harder to keep increasing yields. Brazilians use 2.4 biproductive hecatres per person but only 1.8 are available worldwide.
laurens678- The best way to stop deforestation the quickest, is, at least what I think, to change consumption patterns of consumers(alternatives for tropical hardwood and less meat), better legislation in tropical forest countries against deforesters, and the developed countries/companies paying countries for leaving their rainforest standing, instead of logging for tropical hardwoods and clearing for farmland.
Jose Carlos de Moraes Pires- O Brasil pode alimentar muita gente mesmo mantendo 20% de área de reserva em cada propriedade, o que é muito comparado a outros países.
dwarreI- This video is the true definition of deception, it is deducing the attention of the viewer from the chemical company who is earning billions of dollars over the back of farmers everty year. Basf enslaves farmers on their chemicals, making them dependant on their products in order to pay the bills. We don't need chemical companies to feed the people. Copy-paste this url to to see the ugly truth behind companies like this: /watch?v=uem2ceZMxYk&feature=player_embedded
ArturRodrigues.com- The Brazilians, are making a huge difference in Miami, investing in homes and businesses. We are attending Brasilians buyers in Miami, Orlando and New York areas.
lemeph- Congratulations for BASF and Video producers for putting the facts in such a comprehensive way! Next time you see a farmer, specially a Brazilian one say: "THANK YOU"!!! Best regards, Paulo Leme
PurePresentation- this is a really gteat piece of animation work, congratulations!
R Leakey- You are great Brazil!
laurens678- @Imota71 Haven't been there, but in today's world you have worldwide media. Just as I know there are people being killed in Syria, even though I haven't been there. People I know who have been to Brazil acknowledge the problems of the Wild West in the deforestation frontier of the Amazon. For example, there are a lot of slaves kept by farmers/loggers in the deforestation frontier of Brazil. Even the Brazilian government acknowledges this.
laurens678- @pauloeof I would rather eat grass than dirty Brazilian, pesticide sprayed soy. Brazilian soy should be banned here in Holland. Luckily there are now beginning initiatives here to remove soy from animal feed, and replace them with local crops.
