Your opinion about Mark Shepard on Restoration Agriculture
Check this out- we do not have anything interesting today.
Hinterfragen!- 2:09:05 Guys, I am not an English native and I didnt get the plant names mentioned there except comfrey.Would anybody be so kind and type the other two down for me?Thx in advance
Kyle Parks- The Revolution Explained!
Kitty Gooris- Mark Shepard of Viola, Wisconsin speaks to organic farmers about his permaculture farm, his experiences and techniques in modeling agriculture after natural, 3-dimensional ecosystems using tree and shrub agroforestry, keyline water management, rotational grazing, and more.He also explains why it is imperative that we take up these techniques immediately and on a large scale in order to sequester carbon, combat climate change, stop soil erosion, deal with peak oil, improve our air, water, and wildlife habitat, all while being more resilient and financially-viable than conventional monoculture farming.
Kitty Gooris- And again, the bottom line is LOVE... I didn't expect this after looking at the previous video, but there it was.
goofy roofy- very good points, i love the practical tips rather than just wavey gravey hipster stuff that sounds good but has little impact. also love that he sounds like John C Reilly :) The talk was worth it just for the tip on chestnuts alone, thanks Mark, look forward to the book.
TheOneLifeRider- is there no video of the presentation?
Red Baron Farm- There were earthworms, just a different species. 17 in fact in the area you are talking about.
freemanglory- Its unfortunate mark makes such a great case for restoration agriculture and then around minute 20 shows his massive ignorance on the subject of first nation peoples of the east and mid-west. Sustainable farming was largely what these cultures (by the hundreds) practiced. The racist and fictional accounts of hunter-gatherers lingers in the form of calcified stories WITH ZERO curiosity or research done by the presenter(s).Here's a primer: LIES MY TEACHER TOLD ME by James W. Loewen.
kaya Trochy- Best rant about permaculture...

Jefferdaughter- There are a few inaccurate statements or assumptions. Methane from livestock is only an issue in CAFOS; when raised naturally on pasture, savannah, or woodland - whatever eco-niche they are made for - animals are crucial to a functioning ecosystem. Which may explain why forests near some of the farms w/perennials may have scored so badly in carbon-sequestration. In the US, the buffalo (bison) herds were so huge that wagon trains sometimes had to wait all day - or days - for the herd to pass so they could go on. Not to mention antelope (pronghorns). Elk and moose, in addition to whitetails, were abundant in the East - and buffalo, too, in many areas of the East. There were far more wild herbivores than wild and domestic herbivores combined today. *All eco-systems - grasslands, savannah, woodlands, and wetlands - CO-EVOLVED with animals and NEED them to remain healthy.* Healthy eco-systems sequester carbon and build soil fertility by using energy from the sun, combined with minerals from the earth. Livestock are all domestic versions of wildlife. Livestock, plants, and land ALL thrive when managed in a way that mimics natural eco-systems.
james prigioni- You were right +aaron thatcher, this presentation was awesome. Thanks for telling me about it
Nicko Ion- Annual crops don't require disturbed soil at all. Nor the destruction of the ecosystem we put them in. Triticum aestivum, the real winter heritage varieties, are by no means the weak plants you think it is, like, not at all, it will outcompete most weeds and grow anywhere, it will winter in ice and germinate underwater. That's the main crop of humanity for a reason. Read "the harmonious wheatsmith" or, alternatively, read J. Jeavons book where he says he's aiming without fuss to 2x200 bushels of wheat per acre per year with his biointensive 100 sq ft beds.Disturbance of soils and ecosystem destruction is a methodology issue and doesn't have anything to do with the type of crop you grow.
Brian Bundy- Mark Shepard for president!
Carl Hagen- Restoration AgricultureHobby Farm AssistanceHabitat Assistance for Endangered Species such as 'Brown Owls'in Arizona....Eagles,ect. for privately owned land is money isavailable.
Dick Weed- just plain awesome! some messing with historical facts, but acceptable...would be insane to have Mark Shepard and Paul Wheaton in the same room - the energy would likely injure someone, LOL.

joe mama- Nice masonic hand signal at the beginning of the video Mark and the serpent eating its tail that was a nice touch. Why don't you permaculture masons just tell people that you are masons and you are plannng to throw the rural people off the land and create an electronic currency to enslave the people and bring in a totalitarian world government. You managed to make distribution of wealth aka communism almost sound palatable by calling it distribution of resources. If the people knew your agenda they would spit in you face and shun you.Whats that masonic phrase?"If you are not one of us you are nothing".Hmmm doesn;t sound to family friendly to me.I have checked on Mullison too he was a mason and trained at a college created for Winston Churchill who said he wanted it patterned after the "Rhodes scholar" school which trains politicians how to implement world government.Permaculture is a good idea but Mark you dont tell the people the whole agenda because they would despise you.I must admit you had the right mix of feel good mixed in with the fabian propaganda that I would have fallen for myself just a few short years ago. You did give people the key to escape the masonic tyranny in this country when in the story about the old man the grandson said "I am not part of your system" why not go all the way Mark and tell people they are in this beast of burden system voluntarily? Then tell them how to withdraw themselves. When you give hints to someone with no eyes to see and ears to hear it is fruitless and I think disingenuous but I guess maybe you sleep better at night thinking you gave them the key to freedom but they chose to be slaves. The song at the end was a nice touch too lol ."All the worlds a stage"as they say.You just screwed over about 98 percent of the youtube viewers. You can yet redeem yourself Mark unless you are a sociopath mason like Jack Spirko.I hope you will consider halting the destructive path you are on that will surely destroy many families both hear and abroad.Do not hold to the masonic ideal;" The profain (non masons) are meat on the table by choice and consent".You should be helping them not hurding them into demise. Save your soul Mark no one else will.

Peter Paul Rubens- Yeah totally, that undermines his credibility. I know some permaculturists that say that AS is just experimenting with human lives now. Of course there is more than one pathway. All I say is that perennial grasses in combination with disturbance (mowing if you like a more vegetarian option :) seems to be the fastest one. In fact I am not at all a passionate meat eater, I just think that animal husbandry is not per definition an unethical endeavour but beneficial for humans as well as the animals
riverstanding- While redesigning culture is noble goal, it's not really a high priority for someone trying to redesign their own farming practices... good try, though.
spokenforall- he grows the crap out of them. you can buy bundles of 25 ungraded rootstock on his website. his hazelnut hybrid has been producing very high quality and large volume for 15 years or in his 5a/b zone. He sells chestnut, hardy cherry, nitrogen fixer rootstock, and some other interesting ones if available. cheers!
Wayne Osmand- My lovely wife is also a Permaculture Designer! I was hooked on this guys info and passion! just wish it was filmed not just the occasional slide! but for energies sake at least my eyes got a rest!
osdias- I agree that in past millennia we wouldn't have survived from gathering plant based food alone. However neither did had we evolved a scientific understanding of diet an the human body. Eating meat back then was a necessary survival adaptation. Thankfully we understand now that meat is no longer necessary to keep a healthy human body. It is in fact detrimental in many ways as our physiology is adapted to digest plant based foods way better than it is digesting animal flesh.
Jefferdaughter- A basic truth, eloquently stated. I will quote you, and give credit where credit is due. Thank you! Best regards.
arlingtonguy54- Awesome presentation! We have Molson, Holzer and have gotten good ideas from Salatin, but this guy is on fire! Can't wait to get the book which is on order.
Peter Paul Rubens- there is no such thing in nature as a vegetarian ecosystem.
